Cgrain is a Swedish company founded by Jaan Luup in 2009 to develop image analysis for cereal grain and milling industries. Later in 2013, Cgrain was created, designed to provide new methods and opportunities to assess grain quality. Currently, the largest applications are; crop intake, calculation of settlement for malting barley, and for product control of hulled/dehulled oats.

The new technology modernizes the current manual inspection method to be more accurate, fast and objective. With a patented 3 view mirror, over 90% of each kernel is photographed and analysed. Cgrain determines defects such as; broken grain, skinning, green kernels, pink barley and ergot.

The manual method for analysing grain quality using visual defects is subjective, labour intensive as well as strenuous for neck, shoulders and wrists. Cgrain offers an objective solution, its easy to use and reduces the need for manual labour.

Pictures can be saved for future reference or to track a product’s quality, by saving the results in a database, it is possible to keep and analyse statistics on grain quality, colour and size distribution.
